Sir
I know people have complained ad nauseam about the ongoing wild parties, some of which are fairly savage in nature, at Coronation Park but the previous weekend, November 11-12, was perhaps one of the worst.
The loud music started at around 6:30am on Sunday.
Is it fair that people who are not from this area come and hold their rowdy drinking sessions in our area? Then just when we thought it could not get much worse it did – a huge party on Sunday with braai stands on the pavement, loud music and people openly drinking in public. Is this still an offence? We dare not call the police for fear of being branded racists or worse.
Hang on, it did not matter they never answered the phone on Sunday afternoon in any event. but surely drinking in public is a social ill that leads to violent behaviour. Just now the do-gooders will come around with a form for us to donate to the 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Children. How about donating towards a fence around this disgusting park?
Since the municipality increased the rates so heavily in this little village, the services we are supposed to get from the municipality are non-existent. There are no traffic officers to implement the fabled by-laws we have read about.
Do not tell me to call the police. It is a waste of time. There are either no vans or they are not interested or they simply put the phone down with a comment like ‘it is their right to party’. Our right is to sort this out.
