On behalf of the Colita Soup Kitchen, Estcourt Senior Citizens Club, cancer survivors and some of the small organisations, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to Ian Marx for the tea treats and community members for sponsoring gifts.

During Diabetes Awareness Month, the Estcourt Senior Citizens Club got together with staff from medical Hall Pharmacy and offered free screenings.

20 members were screened and a few were referred to consult with their doctor urgently as high readings were noted. Their diabetes and blood pressure are not controlled and they are not adhering to a diet and medication.

Sister Mazibuko mentioned that regular testing and the control of diabetes are important because it can affect your health. Concerns were for the senior members that are living alone.

The Estcourt Senior Citizens Club will reopen in February 2018.
