Don’t leave us in darkness

In certain areas, there are no lights along the main roads

Editor – Allow me space in your newspaper to highlight the poor streetlight situation in town.

There are a number of areas that have been left in darkness since December last year.

Residents and motorists were tolerant seeing as it was the holidays, in the hope that once the new year kicked in, municipal employees would sort out the problem.

However, to date, the streetlights have not been repaired.

Does the municipality not care about the community? Our lives are in danger, as criminals are ready to pounce on opportunities like this.

In certain areas, there are no lights along the main roads. Some people have no option but to walk along these stretches of road, taking each step in constant fear of danger lurking nearby.

This calls for the municipality to step up, repair and maintain the town’s streetlights. It is their responsibility after all. We are paying for rates, so give us what is due to us!
