Disappointing turn out at the ‘Relay for Life’ Cansa fund raising event

Many people that I spoke to did not know about this relay. The idea is very good but it was not advertised well.

Editor- Please permit me to express my disappointment about the ‘Relay for Life’ held last Saturday to raise funds for Cancer.
I had a stall like many others and made no money because the turnout was very low.
I heard about the relay from a friend in Estcourt and decided to do my share for Cancer and also make money for myself, but it turned out to be a shamble.
Many people that I spoke to did not know about this relay. The idea is very good but it was not advertised well.
I think if the event was planned and executed correctly, it would have been well supported.
Hats off to those who organised the event. However they have a lot to learn to host a successful event.
It seemed so unfair to all those who went the extra mile to contribute to Cancer, but their efforts were in vain.
The next time the organisers want to do something they must talk to people who have experience. They should have spoken to the organisers in Estcourt who have much experience.
The event was slap-dash. This kind of arrangement turns people away. I for one will not go back.
