Your car has horsepower, so why not you?
The next time you arrive at work, you might hear the boss say, Do It Again – ZN is entering the final straight.

June and July spells the arrival of winter, but it also spells the start of racing fever in KZN.
The Comrades Marathon brings tens of thousands of people into the province as athletes take on the challenge of the world’s greatest foot race, while numerous supporters line the streets, cheering them on.
If road running isn’t your thing, you can always head down to the beach and chase the sardines. The arrival of the fish causes huge excitement for the locals, who crowd the shores, trying to grab as many as they can. Even the aunties can be seen running into the water, using their saries to scoop up the silver fish.
If you’re not feeling fishy either, why not get excited about horseracing? The Durban July is another event that attracts thousands into the province and is a major boost for the economy. Everyone has a tip for the July, even if they’ve never watched horse racing before and most people end up kicking themselves afterward, for not listening to people who gave them tips.
On the more local horseracing front, the Dundee July is also a popular event, drawing huge crowds and bringing visitors to the area. The Dundee July has grown over the years and highlighted some of the small town talents that we have.
But why is the racing fever so important, particularly this year?
The answer is simple; the rising petrol price.
With fuel prices reaching new highs, we soon will have to find alternative methods to travel around.
Take a page out of the Comrades and run everywhere you need to go. It may take you under 12 hours to get from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, but the more you do it, the quicker your times will become. Don’t want to run?
Then why not swim? The sardines can cover huge distances by swimming so you can as well. If neither of those options do it for you, then just get a horse. Horses don’t need petrol to get going, just food, water and TLC. You can even name your horse like one of the July runners if you want to feel more special. Add the ‘ZN’ to the end of it, if you want a personalised touch. The next time you arrive at work, you might hear the boss say, Do It Again – ZN is entering the final straight.
Horses are ideal. We once travelled by horse and cart, so why not now.
As it is, your car already has horsepower, so why not you?
