Editor – I am currently sorting out my study materials so I can write my final exam in November for the end of a course that I have been working on since the beginning of the year.
And no, I’m not a matriculant preparing for my final exams; I’ve actually been working for four years.
However, I feel that I would not be where I am today without studying extremely hard for my final matric exams.
Unfortunately, it is true that once you are done with school, those marks do not really matter on your report, besides for your first job.
It is more about the experience in the field and qualifications in the line of occupation you choose to pursue.
That is why I say it is important that once you are done with high school, you apply for various courses (they do not have to be at a university if you cannot afford it).
The more certificates you have, the better for you in the long run.
Sometimes a little research to find an affordable, recognisable course goes a very long way.
Obviously though, one cannot just take a course without a certain percentage for high school subjects.
So, the moral of the story is: study hard, kids, for your school exams, varsity and course exams and just carry on building your certificates.
After all, you don’t want to be stuck doing your first job forever. Education should be more than reaching the prosperity of big capital.
To financially fulfil our basic needs, we need money, but education is beyond that.
When a person materially becomes rich, he / she should not stop there.
We often mix the objectives of getting knowledge with finance.
Most of the time, we give our life to make money, but we never take our LIFE into account.
