Estcourt rank is unhygienic and messy

It was meant to be a new, safe and clean place for locals and visitors

In last week’s newspaper, Councillor Nkala wrote about the dirty conditions at the taxi rank on Estcourt. Yes, it is very true, the rank in Alexandra Street is becoming an eyesore.

There is a lot of rubbish everywhere, even though there are bins available. The water that is flowing through the rank is also so unhygienic and messy.

You can’t even walk through some areas because the place is so dirty. I don’t understand why some people don’t want to look after this place.

It was meant to be a new, safe and clean place for locals and visitors but since it has been opened, it is going from bad to worse.

It would definitely help if the municipality would make a better effort keeping the rank cleaner, it would make a big difference.

I also think that there should be more awareness created for the patrons of the rank to take pride in this place. The shopkeepers and vendors should also be made aware that it is also their responsibility to keep the rank clean and tidy.

We don’t want to go backwards. The taxi rank is a really updated facility that is beneficial to so many people. We don’t want visitors leaving our town, thinking it’s so dirty.
