Our history is our heritage: Khoisan nation

The statue of King Adam Kok declares a right to own the whole of Kokstad. Every Bushman painting gives us a right to ownership

King Adam Kok was a great leader from the Griqua clan. It is very clear that other races know very little about us, as a Khoisan nation. We need to be in control of our heritage, as a Khoisan nation.

The previous government classified the Khoisan people as coloured. That allowed them to take away the land and everything else that belonged to the Khoisan people. Democracy came and did the very same thing and continued the classification, using the word coloured. Why? Because they know that the land belongs to the Khoisan.

We, as the Khoisan, need our heritage and historical landmarks now. If government still plays this game, we will take our heritage by force. Those that sit on our heritage must know that we will take over.

We are not going to grab or steal land but we are taking back what is rightfully ours.

Our paintings and drawings declare a right to us, as Khoisan. The statue of King Adam Kok declares a right to own the whole of Kokstad. Every Bushman painting gives us a right to ownership.

Our historical landmarks are also proof to our forced placements into townships. This government has taken us for a joke. The five bloodlines form a Khoisan nation. Trying to divide us will be a waste.

Government did not address the wrongs of the past and that is why the Khoisan says enough is enough. We, as Khoisan, have our own plan to bring change. This could be done peacefully.
