Being aware of your surroundings

We become blasé to the lurking dangers afforded by us being too slack to be aware of our surroundings and too often let our guards down.

Madam –

Times are tough and are surely getting tougher, as will be seen by the increase in cash-in-transit heists around the country.

Christmas, with its theme of the joy of giving, is also around the corner and the resident criminals of our fair land also want to give but first they must take!

As a concerned citizen of our fair town, I appeal to those of you frequenting the CBD to be on the alert for bag snatchers and petty thieves.

We become blasé to the lurking dangers afforded by us being too slack to be aware of our surroundings and too often let our guards down.

Criminals are very quick to latch onto this, as they spend their time casually watching our patterns of behaviour and in a flash pick up on the chance to make a quick score.

Fellow citizens, keep your handbag tightly clasped to your chest.

Men take your wallets from your ‘gatsak’ and drive around with windows almost rolled up, lest the sneaky hand of a thief reaches in to rip the gold from around your neck, or the watch off your wrist.
