Estcourt business owner questions the town’s direction

We are tired of the lawlessness in our town and should you not rectify the situation immediately we will have no choice but to call for the intervention

I would like to address the complete lawlessness in our town where people are allowed to drink on the street. People urinate where they feel like, including next to the police station.

Do we still have a police station and do we still have a police force? I want to know, what are they doing? Underage drinking at taverns is rife with school children buying liquor freely and drinking on the streets, causing unruly behaviour.

Where are our patrol vehicles on weekends within the central business district? Why is this unruliness allowed to continue? What are we expected to do, as law abiding citizens?

Do you want us to fight back because it is affecting our town and our businesses which could lead to someone being killed or injured before you take your constitutional duties to protect citizens of the town seriously?

We are tired of the lawlessness in our town and should you not rectify the situation immediately we will have no choice but to call for the intervention of the Police Minister Bheki Cele to intervene.

Could you please explain why there are no patrol vehicles to attend to problems? Our President is trying to sort our problems out and get the country back to stability and growth, both in our economy and tourism so we can create more employment and uplift all our people and it is your duty to see to it that our town is safe and the rights of all people are respected.

Should you fail to do so you will be failing yourself, failing our town, our province and the country. I am sure that you will give this your immediate attention as this is a call from your community to get things right as we approach the festive season and things could get out of control. Please keep our community safe over the festive season.
