Farewell Dr Paddy Kearney

Paddy was known as an activist for human rights and also an academic who sacrificed his life in service of poor and maginalised people

On behalf of The uThukela Amajuba Mzinyathi Christian Council (TAMCC), I wish to take this opportunity and convey a message of condolence on the death of our consultant, father and colleague Dr Paddy Kearney on November 23.

Paddy died at the age of 76 at Gateway Hospital in Durban. I personally feel honoured that I had time to work with him at the KwaZulu-Natal Christian Council (KZNCC) and also here at regional level. Paddy was known as an activist for human rights and also an academic who sacrificed his life in service of poor and maginalised people.

Paddy’s funeral was conducted on December 1. His funeral was well-attended by leaders from various fields and places in our country. Deputy Speaker of National Parliament, Mr Lechesa Tsenoli, was amongst the mourners who attended Paddy’s funeral. His legacy will remain forever, may he rest in eternal peace.
