Estcourt going pear-shaped

The festive season brought more faults than favours

Had I been on council, through shame and disgrace, and a conscience, I would not want to serve a minute extra.
So why not do the noble thing and RESIGN?

And now for some questions:

1. Provide us with a progress report to show how you attended to our needs.

2. Mayor and Edith Lite, you officiate functions and senior citizens meetings. Why? To seek prominence? Why not use this time to attend to the items on your priority list?

3. Mr Administrator, what improvements have you made? The palisade fencing around the municipal building is not our need – an item to showcase yourself.

4. Heads of departments and all relevant authorities – Estcourt is a dead town. How will you resuscitate it? Do not provide facilities in new areas by failing to maintain infrastructure in established areas.

A bumpy road to service delivery

Who is to blame for poor service delivery in our town?

Service delivery conditions in Estcourt worsen

To the revived Ratepayers Association and local media, your hard work and engagement with the Administrator and municipality are indeed praiseworthy.

The next step, failing action from council, is to approach the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA), the Public Protector or some recognised organ of state to come to the rescue of a once ‘Gem of the Midlands’.

Remember, the very poor showing at the coming elections will be costing the ruling party valuable votes and will be placed squarely at the doors of the poor performance of the council headed by the ruling party.
Shame on our council!
