We could generate income from CCTV

Referring to your front page in connection with the CCTV cameras I want to give my opinion on how positive it would be for us in Newcastle.

A couple of years ago an old lady’s car was stolen from the main parking lot of a shopping centre in Newcastle. The fire department had cameras and they could see that the culprits followed this lady from the old Game building at the Cinema area.

These culprits were identified and arrested.

You would be able to identify criminals and arrest them. It would be safe to go to the CBD area in town, because at the moment it is not safe, and because of this a lot of shop owners are battling to survive.

The town could generate enough money to finance the maintenance of the cameras by identifying everyone that skips a red robot or that commits an traffic offense.

If these culprits are brought to book it will be much safer to travel in Newcastle. Another thing is these people on their cellphones while driving is another big problem.

One day I did a test. From the Newcastle Golf coure to O Crusty’s Pick n Pay I counted 12 people talking on their phones while driving.
