The Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality’s refuse department under Mr Hlanganani Hlongwane shows a marked improvement. I have seen the refuse truck on the go from early hours until late at night, as the truck passes our house in the evenings.
The municipal refuse department, in particular the staff reporting to Mr Hlanganani Hlongwane, is really trying their utmost without the necessary vehicles and staff they require. The must be applauded. Thank you Mr Hlongwane and your team for the work that you manage to get done. You may not get to all the areas but I have witnessed how hard you are trying to get the job done.
We still have repeated problems with COMMUNITY MEMBERS ignoring the days when refuse must be placed outside the houses. COMMUNITY MEMBERS, after and during the week following cleaning up by the municipal staff has been done, come and drop their garbage at the corner of Roland Hellet Road and Heritage Road.

This is not a dumping site. It is not a garden refuse dumping site. It is not a vehicle parts dumping site either. It is private property!
The park is not a lover’s lane, it is not a collection point for prostitutes, it is not a motorcycle race track and it is not a free for all entrance. This is private property, please stay away.
Vehicle occupants that seem to think Heritage Road is a nice quiet little road to come and park off with your girlfriend or friends, switching your boom box on, please stop it! Go to a recreational park such as Lambert Park. This is a residential area.
The worst is the disrespect you show to our town and street is when you then discard rubbish out of your car into the street in front of our houses. Used condoms, takeaway packets and boxes.
The alcohol you consumed and the driving under the influence on a public road, which children use walking home to the Inkomfe housing project after school, are not acceptable. You then further throw your empty bottles of liquor out of the window.

Some break on the tar others on our lawns, which we keep clean and cut and park on. Getting out of your vehicle and urinating in front of our houses with no shame of exposing yourself and leaving the smell of urine all over. Not even to mention squatting with no shame and leaving “it” exposed. Irritating the dogs in the yards.
How can this be stopped? When you are approached and told it is private property, or please collect the rubbish you discarded this is not a dumping area, we are exposed to racial abuse, threats of assault and screaming tyres that leaves black lines on the tar and much worse behaviour at times.
If each community member living in a house in Estcourt and each business just cleans up in front of your own property. It does not matter if you are a tenant or home owner.
Just pick up rubbish in front of your house and on the road and if need be opposite your home our town will look so much different.
