Time to develop locals in Estcourt

I am still confused to see each and every municipality tender awarded to out of town contractors

I am not happy to see people of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality being left behind in terms of skills development programmes or the municipality giving them an opportunity to be awarded municipal tenders.

I am still confused to see each and every municipality tender awarded to out of town contractors.

What about local people who are developing this town each and every day by buying vehicles here in our town and we see poor road maintenance?

As a Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor, I am not supporting this process because we have people who can put black top (tar) on the road, build houses and connect electricity.

Why hasn’t the municipality given these jobs to local small businesses to develop their company, and then employ local people? We have 23 wards, people can get job in terms of tenders systems, or does the municipality give it their friends?

Secondly, I wish that the municipality could assist local small business people to gain accountability when they buy in our market, so they can get products at a cheaper price. This can assist them to make a profit while they are selling goods to customers. It is the only way to assist local small business people.
