LETTER – ‘We need a Mayor and a Speaker with integrity’

We need a Mayor and a Speaker with integrity who will work for Endumeni residents and make Dundee great again

Sir

Congratulations to the ANC for winning ward 3 by-election. Mathula Nkosi (ANC candidate) received 1 706 votes and Sandile Mhlongo (IFP candidate) received 1138 votes.

By voting for the ANC, Sithembile residents liberated Dundee  Residents from the corrupt and scandal-ridden Endumeni Council led by the IFP, DA and EFF. As a resident of Sithembile Township and proud ANC member I am thrilled that  the ANC won the by-election.

By winning highly contested ward 3 by-election ANC  will have full control of Endumeni Council. ANC now has seven seats, IFP three seats, DA two seats and EFF one seat.

ANC leadership will elect new Mayor and Speaker among its seven Councillors. I hope and pray the  ANC leadership in the region, province and even  Luthuli House will subject all councillors applying for the position of Mayor and Speaker to strict screening.

We need a Mayor and a Speaker with integrity who will work for Endumeni residents and make Dundee great again. Mayor and Speaker are influential and powerful positions within the Municipality.

The ANC-led council must deal decisively with corruption and incompetence, deliver basic services, recover all state monies stolen during IFP-led administration, finalise all disciplinary  processes, review property rates for residential properties and commercial properties, work with human settlement to build new houses for Forrestdale and Craigside people, fix portholes, sell Municipality vacant land to developers to construct a private hospital, shopping mall, own houses etc.
