Poor Estcourt, we need a wake-up call

Mayor, Administrator, Heads of Departments, Municipal Manager: You have failed us

Ratepayers Association: You are committed but need to move forward. Members make the committee, not one person.
Give action to your words. As a start, why not take over waste removal, privatise, let ratepayers pay a refuse removal tariff into a separate fund. The municipality is levying the tariffs but is not providing the service.
Angela Keyter, you need to give the organisation a ‘push’ – this is the only structure that could save Estcourt.

Ward councillors: Get off your hobby horse – do some work, then get satisfaction in earning your salary. Attend to as a matter of urgency just two issues this week – potholes and grass cutting. In the second week, supervise the contract workers cleaning the township and marking of street signs. Give us evidence of what you have done for us through the media.

Mayor, Administrator, Heads of Departments, Municipal Manager: You have failed us. Throw in the towel. Forget about jobs for cronies – let the most competent people run the town. In the interim, move out of your ivory towers, meet with the people on ground level and attend to their needs.
