Remembering Estcourt’s Pastor Ben Pretorius

A man that had honesty and integrity, a man ever so willing

To many of us, he was a gentle giant. A man that was always ready to lend a helping hand, share the good word and encourage those facing difficulties.

When I first said to Pastor Ben that I want to start a support group, he was so excited.

He said to me that he has been doing this for many years, helping people with physical disabilities all the way from Estcourt to his hometown (Bronkhorstspruit).

He always looked at things from a different perspective. It’s not very often that you can find a Pastor aiding a support group, but he did. He had been a co-founder of the ARK Support Group.

He spoke on radio to millions of people about helping people with physical and mental/emotional disorders. He always made sure that everything is in order for our support group meetings.

As far as I can remember, I know that he was a man that always helped people, showing them the good word and reintroducing them to God. I know that he had been preparing all his life for this day when he will sit next to Jesus and say: “Yes, I did your work to the best of my ability.”

The memories he left behind can never be forgotten. Always a cheerful person, always smiling. A man that had honesty and integrity, a man ever so willing.

We the members of ARK Support Group will surely miss him. To the family, we pray that God will give you peace, courage, comfort and strength during this period. We pray that his soul will rest in peace.
