A plea to stop dumping on temple property

This property is being constructed to be used as a place of worship and we would appreciate it getting the respect that it deserves

It is with a deep sense of sadness that Iskcon Estcourt has to approach our local newspaper.

A humble appeal is being made to all residents in and around our temple property in Bougainvillea Avenue to please not dump any waste in or around the temple site. We have cleaned up the mess on many occasions however; it would be appreciated if this would stop.

This property is being constructed to be used as a place of worship and we would appreciate it getting the respect that it deserves.

Religious places are built to worship in them and places of worship are very sacred and holy irrespective of the denomination to which they belong. We need to respect -“to regard with honor; to have a high opinion of; to place a great value upon the house of God.

If the house of God is not important to us and if practicing proper etiquette is not important to us, it dishonours God and it is not going to be important to our children or to community around us.

Our organisation does not wish to offend anyone as we are an organisation bent on spreading the message of ‘Love of Godhead’ and we want everyone to feel loved and welcome in the temple that is being constructed.

If one contributes towards temple construction, devotional service becomes increasingly a more tangible and feasible reality in one’s life. Srila Prabhupada’s intent, his transcendental scheme, in having us, his disciples build temples around the world, is especially to provide an opportunity for fallen souls everywhere to acquire spiritual benefit by participation and charity. This is known as ‘ajnatasukriti’, which means pious credit acquired unknowingly.
