This town needs more entertainment

Instead of growing as a town, I feel like we are slowly moving backwards.

Madam – Due to the rising cost of everything, my family and I decided to stay in town this Easter holiday to save money and also to avoid being on the roads, which are really not safe this time of the year.

While we enjoyed the relaxation of not being burdened with travelling and having to entertain the children away from the comfort of our own home, I must say I was a little disappointed to see that there were so few events in town over the Easter break.

Thank you to the places that did have something special for children, but I feel entertainment in this town is severely lacking.

It makes me feel bad to know that we miss out on so much not living in bigger cities.

The children are always happy with what little there is available, but we know the potential of smaller towns, and the fact that not many take advantage of the opportunities that exist for entertainment here is really sad.

Instead of growing as a town, I feel like we are slowly moving backwards.

There really is not much to do, with many choosing to stay home and party instead of having a good night out, because there is simply not much of anything to do.

Is this because we are a town of complainers? I have seen how some businesses come in, to much hype, only to close a year or so later because people in town just stop supporting them. How can we expect good entertainment, restaurants etc if we do not show them support?

I really hope this town grows, and even with the little I have, I will pledge my support to anyone who commits to bringing fresh new activities and entertainment to Newcastle.
