Illegally dumping is an offence under the by-laws of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.

However, some residents have been blatantly disregarding this and dumping domestic and garden refuse at the entrance to the Forderville ground.
A resident who called the Estcourt News last week and wished to remain anonymous said she was disgusted to drive past the piling mess every day.
“This is on a main road and really is an eyesore. What I would like to know is whether the municipality’s refuse department is back to its routine or not. If refuse is being collected in all areas of Forderville, then residents have no right to dump there,” commented the resident.
Municipal Manager Patrick Mkhize responded on Tuesday morning and affirmed that the reuse collection schedule is back on track and all areas are covered as per the standard.
When asked how residents can report illegal dumping, here’s Mr Mkhize’s suggestion:
“In terms of enforcement, it is requested that offenders be reported to Miss NN Milanzi on 036 342 7800. Appropriate action will be taken and it will be in line with our tariffs charges.”
He added that the municipality is in the process of training staff members as peace officers.
“Once the process is concluded, the public will be advised accordingly. Names and contact numbers of the peace officers and all applicable tariffs will be published accordingly,” concluded Mr Mkhize.
