Sir – As an ANC member, I feel proud to have been part of the team which worked hard to make certain we convinced the majority of voters in Ward 7 to vote ANC.
There are so many people who need to be thanked. Firstly the volunteers from Wards 7 and 3, who worked tirelessly day-to-day, sometimes in extremely cold weather, and then our team of colleagues who used to come from the different wards to assist whenever there was a programme.
A big thank you to our ANC Regional leadership, the Chairperson comrade Lucky Moloi, Regional Deputy Chairperson/Mayor Sduduso Mdluli, Regional Secretary Bheki Lembede and REC member Lucky Khumalo who is also the local election team co ordinator and Speaker.
Comrade Faso Majola the Provincial co-ordinator who spent over a week in Ward 7 formulating strategies also deserves a big thank you. Let us not forget the man of the moment, our candidate, now Councillor Basheer Khan, whom we thank for his hard work and commitment which helped to win the elections.
A very big thank you to the voters of ward 7 who showed confidence in the ANC by voting in their big numbers. Also thanks to all those who donated food and soft drinks for the volunteers whenever it was possible.
This win can only mean that great things are going to happen in our ward but let us give the new Councillor some space to take his oath of office, set up his ward committee and then consult with different stakeholders then I am sure he will be able to let the whole community know what his plans are.
We owe a special thank you to MEC for finance, Ravi Pillay, in his capacity as Provincial Executive Committee Member (PEC) member who came in at short notice to throw his weight behind the candidate and to MEC for Agriculture, Ms Bongi Sithole Moloi, for spending the day with us. We also thank the Courier for the coverage which our candidate received.
Pravesh Bisram
