Sewer and water woes continue

Really, must we descend to the bottom of the pit before somebody gets the workers to do their jobs?

Editor –

uThukela District Municipality does such a sterling job of getting broken pipes sorted out within a day or two of the matter being reported.

However, sometimes it takes nearly a year or two.
First they fix the pipe but do not close the hole or the damage they have done. I can name at least three places and if I look, I am sure I will find many more.

Second, on the corner of Harry Miller Road and Good Street, there is a pipe that collapsed in December 2018 and the only thing that was done was for hazard tape to be put around the place. Now, nearly a year since the hazard tape has been removed, the hole is still there and people are dumping all sorts of rubbish there.

I wonder how long it will take for that hole to be fixed?

Third, it has happened before and is happening now again. The sewage overflow pipe or the manhole or whatever it is called at the top end of George Smith Street is running over again. Last time it was just left and it sorted itself out, but now it has been overflowing since September 26 and nothing has been done to date.

Oh yes, it was weekend. But are we going to have to wait for it to sort itself out again and just learn to live with the filth and mess?

Is there NOTHING that can be done about these problems? Really, must we descend to the bottom of the pit before somebody gets the workers to do their jobs? I do believe they are getting paid to fill those jobs. Come on, people, let’s see if we can at least try.
