Cell phone find ‘restores faith in mankind’

"By now, we knew it was either in 1 000 pieces or someone had picked it up..."

Sir – My faith in mankind was restored on Tuesday, November 19, by three TFS Wholesale employees.

It was about 6pm when my wife and I had to drive to Glencoe. We left our home in Dundee, little knowing that for some stupid reason I had left my cell phone on the roof my car.

As we drove past the Glencoe turn-off, I realised my phone was no longer on my person or in the car. We realised it was missing and had been left on the roof…

I immediately stopped and naturally discovered it was no longer on the roof of my car. We frantically drove back home and scanned the road for the phone. We then turned back again and continued looking for it.

By now, we knew it was either in 1 000 pieces or someone had picked it up, and we would have to start the dreaded process of blocking the phone, sim swap etc., not to mention all the precious family photos which would be lost…

Out of pure desperation, my wife phoned my number again and to our surprise, a friendly chap answered and told us to meet him at the traffic lights at the Traffic Testing Station.

When we arrived there, we were met by three guys next to their TFS wholesalers truck. They had been driving from Glencoe and saw the phone lying in the middle of the road, a few metres from the Glencoe railway bridge (about six kilometres from my house).

They stopped, picked up the phone and tried to figure out to whom it belongs, when we phoned them.

After thanking and paying them a finder’s fee, we left realising there are still a lot of good people among us. To the three guys from TFS Wholesalers – thank you for my best Christmas gift ever!
