I went to Estcourt Hospital on May 10 after sending my sick father ahead with an ambulance.
When I got there, I was not advised that only one person is allowed to go in with the patient, so when my mum and I went to speak to my dad, a security guard came up to us in an ill-mannered way and asked us to please get out of the out-patients department (OPD).

I went to the sister in charge and asked for permission, but still the guard followed me and asked me to get out.
When we were leaving, he followed us out and began to be racist.

I didn’t say anything and just walked away.

After a while, I asked the guards at the gates if my mother could go in and follow up and see what the doctor said is wrong with my father, but they still refused, stating that the nurses in OPD said that if we were needed, they would call us.

I reported this to the head of security, but he also had the same mentality and said I should go do what I want to, which is going to the paper, social media or hospital management, because he doesn’t care.

Prior to this matter, I encountered a similar situation in the past with the security company at the hospital, which I let go, but I feel we need to be treated fairly and as one – they should not look at faces.
