Be part of the ‘virtual’ Remembrance Walk this Saturday

Let us keep the spirit of the Relay alive in our town and make best of a bad situation

Editor –

I hope all your readers are well and looking after themselves during this difficult time.
Allow me, through the medium of your newspaper, to inform all Relayers that 2020 Relay for Life is cancelled for this year. The risks to our people at a major event like the Relay are too great. As event chair I hereby propose the following:

READ MORE: CanSA to host ‘virtual’ Remembrance Walk

1. That each one of us host our own relay at our homes with only persons living in that home on 18 July (Mandela Day).
2. Walk on your own or with a family member from your home in your yard or road near you, any distance from 3pm to 5pm. Use your personal protective equipment.
3. Host a Cuppa for CANSA at your home with the members who live in your home. Special edition mugs are available from me at R55 each.
4. At 6pm host your own luminaria ceremony in your yard to remember your loved ones. Decorate your own paper bags and dedicate to your loved ones.
5. Like most non-governmental organisations, CANSA is going through difficult times and donations will be welcome.

6. Post pictures of your Cuppa for CANSA, your walk and your luminaria on social media.
7. Let us keep the spirit of the Relay alive in our town and make best of a bad situation. Sadly this time you will walk alone but remember we are all in this together. Stay safe and blessed. Love you all.
