Letter: Unity of Faith in Action – A Spiritual Awakening

Newcastle's Megaranjany Loganathan Naidoo reflects on unity, service and the shared spiritual values shaping her journey. Read more here:

As 23 November, the birthday of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, approached, I found myself reflecting deeply on the idea of “unity of faith”.

Much like a heart with two ventricles, my devotion holds space for both Sri Sathya Sai Baba (the left ventricle) and Lord Jesus Christ (the right ventricle).

Both, in their own ways, inspire healing of the physical, spiritual and mental well-being of individuals.

Over the years, I have attended various Christian churches on Sundays, the Sabbath day.

There, congregants arrive with Bibles, crosses and their best attire, but more importantly with sincere and unwavering faith in Lord Jesus Christ.

Many openly share testimonies of healing and of finding relief from hardship, illness and oppression.

“From darkness to light.”

Their soul-stirring hymns and readings from the Bible speak of the Lord’s mercy, glory and compassion.

It is equally heartwarming to witness how, on Sai Baba’s birthday, devotees around the world come together in unity to express their love, devotion and gratitude to Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Even before His passing, Swami gave tirelessly of Himself to meet the needs of devotees within the Sai fold.

Many continue to practise the teachings of human values and the Educare system He fostered, striving for spiritual transformation and a world shaped by righteousness and human excellence.

On this auspicious occasion, I express heartfelt gratitude for the support I have received in my humble work as a freelance peace writer.

I have written selflessly, without monetary gain, hoping that some of my articles might remain as part of my legacy. My wish was fulfilled through the kindness of the members of the NOFTA/Newcastle Association for the Aged.

A special thank you goes to Lalitha Mahenjee (daughter of the late Harry Mahenjee of Mahenjees Jewellers) and her husband, Otto, who generously sponsored a frame.

I also wish to thank the Satchit Ananda Temple for preserving some of my peace articles, for inviting me as a special guest, and for allowing me to recite a peace prayer.

My gratitude extends to the Newcastle Advertiser for publishing many of my articles written for dedicated readers. I also appreciate the Maharaj family.

I had the privilege of teaching Keshani Maharaj Business Economics (Grades 10–11, 2005–2006) and Business Studies (Grade 12, 2007).

She is now a director and attorney at DBM Attorneys and has reviewed my peace articles with care.

Her sister, Kirana Maharaj, one of my former students, is a B.Com graduate.

Their parents, Chester and Jayanti Maharaj, are both insurance agents. Their other daughter, Namishta Maharaj, holds a PhD in pharmacy.

I find peace of mind knowing that my articles have found a home in an environment where good values are cherished.
