On Sunday, November 8 sounds of fun and laughter alongside the smell of fish filled the air at Wagendrift Dam as the annual Macksons Fishing Tournament took place.

Lines hit the waters from as early as 5am with about 191 anglers taking up their spots around the dam to enjoy a lovely day of fun fishing, despite the hot weather conditions.

Throughout the day residents streamed in to enjoy the family-orientated event, around their allocated fishing sites in the fresh outdoors.

Just before 2pm lines were reeled in and the prizegiving ceremony was held. Several ticket holders won lovely prizes during a lucky draw, runners-up also walked away with fantastic prizes.

The Macksons group would like to thank all the entrants who participated and other attendees for their support which contributes to the success of the competition every year.

Results:

Biggest carp from the bank – First place Mukesh Pauchcowdie, second Talha Sheik and third place went to Patrick Mhlangu.

Biggest carp from a boat – Tristian Moolman took first place; Hansie Moolman was in second place and Tristian Moolman got the third prize.

Open category – biggest barbel caught by Shabhier Cassim

                                 biggest bass caught by Adil Sheik.
