Golfers find the weekend drive

In the absence of a formal competition, Saturday saw the return of the Newcastle Golf Club Sponsored Competition.

However, coupled with pleasant weather, golfers took the opportunity to put themselves through the paces and shoot for top spot.

It was Eben Botha who found himself as the day’s best.

He finished one point of Sarel Nienaber and Trevor Botha, second and third respectively, thanks to a count-out of their 18.

Pierre Uys edged out Deon Pfeil to clinch fourth spot.
