WIN: Golfing for Rotary’s many projects

The Rotary Club of Newcastle (Majuba) Golf Day is one of the club’s annual highlights.

Since the revival of the club in 2014, members have used this fundraiser as a stepping stone to extraordinary success it has achieved in assisting those in need.

“The success of this day rests solely on the enthusiastic participants and our loyal sponsors, without which none of the community charity work is possible,” explained representatives of the Newcastle Rotary chapter.

Funds raised at the annual golf event contribute toward several Rotary Club of Newcastle projects, including a Back to School drive where 400 children are given a starter pack for their education, the donation of 600 blankets to under privileged children and orphans, a monthly feeding scheme and supplying nappies to Home Meah monthly.

“Rotary International project contributions to healthcare and polio vaccines are also supported, while the club flagship project, supplying wheelchairs to the community in conjunction with ArcelorMittal, all relieve the daily suffering of so many in our community.”

With 150 entrants expected at the golf day on October 14, among massive prizes on the line is a Smart car for a hole in one sunk on the day.

Winners’ prizes include getaways to iconic South African resorts.

“We look forward to hosting all for a fun-filled day, with fierce competition and camaraderie only experienced with Rotary Club of Newcastle (Majuba). Golfers, get to Newcastle Golf Club and register to play, as the starting list is filling up quickly.”
