Despite cold, wet and wintry conditions, Dundee Bowling Club welcomed bowlers to the Northern Zone Fours competition, hosted last week.
The nine men’s teams were divided into three sections with Jacques Bierbaum, Greg Conelly, Ian de Jager and Louis de Jager (Dundee), Fritz Botha, Peet du Bruyn, Grant Teasdale and Jaco Lamprecht (Newcastle), and Rudi Haschke, Koen Retief, Brian Hedley and Stoney Steenkamp winning their respective sections.
Jacques’s team then went on to win their semi-final game against Fritz’s team and then continued their good form to defeat Rudi’s team in the final.
The four ladies team played a round robin format, with the Dundee team of Elsie de Jager, Jo-Ann Conolly, Yvonne Stuart and Taryn Bierbaum winning their 3 games to take the title.
They were closely followed by Newcastle’s Nancy Steyn, Nicola Redelinghuys, Mariska Kuhn and Megan Redelinghuys, who won two of their three games to finish runners-up.
The winners and runners-up now travel to Zululand in August to participate against their Midlands and Zululand counterparts.
Congratulations and good bowling, all!
