Zinhle ‘Mini Cooper’ Shabalala races to victory

The Pietermaritzburg event saw Shabalala finishing first in just over 40 minutes.

Zinhle Shabalala, affectionately known in running circles as ‘Mini Cooper’, stormed to victory as the first woman home in the 10km Polmed SAPS race held in Pietermaritzburg recently.

Shabalala crossed the finish line in an impressive 40 minutes and 11 seconds, cementing her reputation as one of the rising stars in athletics. For her achievement, the constable was awarded a brand-new bar fridge.

Looking ahead, Shabalala already has her sights set on an even bigger challenge – the upcoming Sanlam 42km Marathon, where she hopes to test her endurance and build on her winning momentum.
