Local soccer legend back in Estcourt to host soccer clinics

The clinics will run from Monday to Saturday, culminating in a tournament.

MTM International Award winner and local soccer legend, Keith ‘Coach Kiddo’ Abrahams, has returned to his hometown of Estcourt to continue the soccer clinics he started previously.

Working in partnership with another Estcourt soccer icon, Samsoodeen ‘Shoes’ AllyBuckus, the duo is inviting all kids to join and gain valuable soccer skills and experience.

The clinics will run from Monday to Saturday, culminating in a tournament where all participating players will receive medals and trophies. According to Coach Kiddo, this programme is not just about soccer development, but also about uplifting the community and keeping young people engaged in positive activities.

He urges local businesses and other stakeholders to support the initiative, noting that children will need essentials such as water, fruit / food and other resources. “This time we want to elevate the programme because we are doing it for the kids. Coming back to Estcourt is my way of saying thank you to the people who raised me. As sons of the soil, both Shoes and I want to give back and encourage the youth to overcome the challenges they face in the community by coming to the field and creating opportunities,” he said.

Coach Kiddo further appealed to the local municipality to improve community sports facilities. “We plead with the municipality to step up and fix our facilities for the kids. Now that I am internationally recognised and on a platform in the United Kingdom, there is a real possibility for kids to travel to the UK because I am branded there and serve as an ambassador for soccer,” he explained.
