Runners tackle challenging routes in Battlefields Marathon

Athletes took on either 10km, 21.1km or 42.2km in this Comrades qualifier.

The Battlefields Route was alive with the pounding of running shoes as 450 athletes took on either 10km, 21.1km or 42.2km on Saturday, April 11.

As a Comrades Marathon qualifier, the Coastal Hire Battlefields Marathon (together with the Newcastle Harriers Club) hosted yet another successful race in Newcastle, starting at Hutten Park Primary School.

Despite being tough on the legs, the race had no shortage of smiles, cheers and smiles.

The organisers and Newcastle Harriers Club wish to thank every sponsor and water table involved in contributing to the success of the marathon.
