Provincial bowlers eye the jack

At the conclusion of the weekend, teams were announced for the 2014 KZN Quadrangular and the SA Inter District competitions.

The President’s Cup weekend held at Richards Bay Bowling Club last weekend was generally most pleasing for the selectors.
The proposed Open-A-teams won both the Ladies’ and Men’s sections. The Senior men were a close second while the ladies Open-B team just finished behind their A-counterparts.

At the conclusion of the weekend, the following teams were announced for the 2014 KZN Quadrangular to be held in Pietermaritzburg and the SA Inter District competitions to be played in Bloemfontein (As) East London (Bs) and Pretoria (Seniors):

Ladies: Open-A: Nan Roos, Alice Howe (N), Noela Dreyer and Hannah Gevers. Rita Meyer, Samantha Shaw (N), Michelle Steele (N) and Ronell Greef.

Ladies: Open-B: Barbara Baleri, Ilva Zoeppritz, Anne Cerrai and Annelie du Preez. Sharon Nicoll, Tienkie van Vuuren, Ida Oosthuisen and Essel Schoeman.

Senior Ladies: Yvonne Steenkamp, Dorothy Crosbie (N), Annette Groenewald and Gloria Garbutt. Magriet Coetzee, Lorraine Vincent, Marie-Louise Sugden and Joey Evans.

President’s team: Ria Mapp, Margaret van Heusden, Marie Botha (N) and Olga Kay-Hards. Hannelie Arndt, Lorraine Kirsten, Helga Kautz and Vicky van der Merwe (N).

Men: Open-A: Norman Forbes (N), Miskiet Ferreira, Douglas Steele (N) and Dion Leiaty. Phillip Scheepers, John and Trevor Douthwaite (N) and Jimmy Nel.

Men: Open-B: Franco Lepera, Shaun Hughes, Stephen Shaw (N) and Mike Lovell. Braam van Zyl, Mike Bowman, Soon Moolman and John Cross.

Senior Men: Andre Vivier, Phil Rooke, John Dunlop and Hogart Gevers. Ron Howe (N), Barry Mutlow, Brian Edwards and Mike Butler.

President’s team: Monty Steele (N), Fritz Botha (N), Oscar Baleri and Anil Durgadin (N). Dougie Slabbert, Frank Rautenbach, Eric Robinson and Rowan Vincent.

Newcastle Bowling Club congratulates all players selected, especially the 15 players from its own club.

The annual Fedauto Business League got under way last week, with two full greens, a pleasing sight for the club and sponsors.
The club extends its thanks to Alan and Tillie Kirkland for their continued sponsorship and to all the participants who enter year after year. It was good to see players back on the greens as well as welcome the new faces.
