Crime-fighting cricket players
They say that whenever they get the chance, they play some cricket as a means of de-stressing, as they both thoroughly enjoy the sport
Shaun Fourie and Leon Deysel have been selected to represent the SAPS KZN cricket team, of which Shaun is also the captain and has been for the last two years.
This after a tour in Port Elizabeth which took place from September 27 to October 5, in which KZN came fifth overall. Both Shaun and Leon were selected as all-rounder players. Leon has been selected for the provincial team since 2008, and Shaun has played for the police national team from 2004 to 2012. Both of them are part of Visible Policing and joined the force due to a calling to help others.
Shaun joined the police force in 2002 and Leon in 2003. Shaun says he has been playing cricket “since I was born!” Leon played cricket and rugby at school, but after completing his schooling, he focused more on cricket. They say that whenever they get the chance, they play some cricket as a means of de-stressing, as they both thoroughly enjoy the sport. They would like to thank their commanders for allowing them to take part in sports, and thank their sponsors for making it all happen. They are looking forward to next year’s annual national T20 match which will be played in Potchefstroom.
