Spar run well supported

THE Vryheid Athletics SPAR Fun Run / Walk was held on October 7. Despite the freezing conditions and the looming threat of rain, approximately 230 people took part in this hugely popular event.
The overall winners:1st Male – Rudi Barkhuizen. 1st female – Colette Terblanche. 1st Junior male – Rudi Barkhuizen. 1st Junior female – Nicole Pelser and Bia-Maria Schutte who in a good sporting spirit came in together. The eldest competitor – Tannie Bettie Coetzer. Youngest competitor – Minke Mentz.
Pioneer High School will receive R2 000.00 – most entries. LMS will receive R2 000.00 for having the highest percentage of pupils entered. Thank you to the pupils of these two schools for your outstanding support and to ALL pupils from all the Vryheid schools who came along to enjoy the race.
Congratulations to all of you and thank you Vryheid SPUR for donating the prizes for all of the winners.
A very big thank you to Mr. L. Smit from SPAR for the sponsorship of this annual event. Your generous support of VAC is greatly appreciated. And to all the Committee members and volunteers, your hard work ensured a very successful event.

The Cherry Festival Race takes place on Saturday the 23rd November 2013 in Ficksburg. A reminder to those wanting to participate to send their entry in timeously.
Weekly time trials take place every Thursday at the clubhouse, followed by a bring and braai.
