A day of sport, fun and fellowship

The golf competition was played as a ‘Combined Stableford’ event, and this format of the game requires both players to score consistently well for a good result

The MSC Agencies / Harvey World Travel Sports Day was held at the Country Club on Saturday.
A full field of golfers and a number of bowlers took part in this well organised and sponsored day of sport, fun and fellowship, topped off by a superb dinner and fund-raising auction. Thanks to Magda, Cassidy, Belinda and all the staff of MSC Agencies and Harvey World Travel for their excellent arrangements, fine array of prizes, and a truly successful sport & fun day at the club.
The golf competition was played as a ‘Combined Stableford’ event, and this format of the game requires both players to score consistently well for a good result. Winners of the competition with an excellent score of 78 points were Carla Craffert and Gerhard van der Westhuizen. The second place count-out on 76 points was won by Gerald Boardman and Vernon Naidoo from Bransby Niemach and Stephen van Tonder. Fourth place went to Leon Petersen and Patrick Pieterse with 74 points. ‘Nearest the Pin’ winners were Trevor Jacobs, Charles Elworthy, Patrick Pieterse and Wynand Wessels. Jane MacKenzie won the ‘Longest Drive’ and Gill Hoffman the ‘Longest Putt’. Five golfers carded two-clubs, but mention must be made of Patrick Pieterse who managed to score three two-clubs in the round. The ‘Longest Walk’ prize went to Belinda Meyer and Adeline Jacobs.

The bowls competition was played as a pairs event and the winners were Gavin Livingston and Jane Duncan, with Marx Zaayman and Jill Holding in second place.
The fund-raising auction that followed prize-giving was extremely well supported and raised a substantial amount to be donated to a local charity. Well done to all!
