Bagging prizes at Stillwaters open competition

Prizes to the total value of R100 000 will be up for grabs.

Prizes to the total value of R100 000 are up for grabs for top fishermen.

Organisers at Stillwaters Angling Club are proclaiming its overnight competition will be the biggest ever, with prizes including R15 000, a lounge suite and numerous appliances. The competition takes place from Sandford to Zone E on November 30 and December 1.

Prizes will be awarded to the top five in both the ‘scaled’ and ‘non-scaled’ categories and the format of the competition incorporates ‘skins’ in four different sessions. Fish caught during the ‘skins’ competition also qualify anglers for other prizes.

“This gives most competitors a reasonable chance of winning prizes throughout the competition,” said Breakwaters’ Matthew Shunmugam.

Anglers will pay R200 each excluding gate fees, with gates to open at 8am and the competition beginning at 10am, and the weigh-in to take place on December 1 at Sandford. No observers are permitted, nor are free-standing trailers allowed.

Tickets can be purchased from a number of outlets in Newcastle and certain stores in both Ladysmith and Dundee, and organisers warn space is limited.
