Get ready for Chelmsford Dam’s biggest ever overnight bank angling competition hosted by Stillwaters Angling Club, an affiliate of Breakwaters Angling Club. This competition will be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 30 and December 1, from the Sandford Camping Site to Zone E.
Cash and other prizes total over R100,000, which includes a lounge suite, dining room suite, fridge, eye-level oven and hob, microwave oven, fishing tackle, household appliances, camping equipment, power tools, motor vehicle accessories and car radios, etc.
In the scaled category, the top five prizes are: first prize – R15,000; second prize – R10,000, third prize – R5,000; fourth prize – lounge suite; fifth prize -dining room suite. In the non-scaled category, the top five prizes are: 1st prize – R10,000; second prize – R6,000; third prize – R4,000; fourth prize – fridge; fifth prize – eye-level oven / hob.
This competition is unique as it incorporates a ‘skins’ competition as well. There are four ‘skins’ sessions, each carrying a price tag of R1500 (scaled category) and R500 (non-scaled). The fish caught during the skins competition also qualify for other prizes. This gives most competitors a reasonable chance of winning prizes throughout the duration of the competition.
The competition starts on November 30 at 10am. However, patrons will be allowed into the competition area at 8am. The weigh-in closes on December 1 at 10am at the camping site. The entrance fee is R200 per angler, which excludes gate fees. Queuing starts from the main gates and no swapping of vehicles will be allowed; no observers are allowed; and no free-standing trailers are allowed.
Tickets should be purchased from Breakwaters Angling Club outlets prior to the competition to avoid disappointment, as a limited number will be sold at the gates and preference will be given to patrons outside the Northern KwaZulu-Natal area. Once the target has been achieved, patrons run the risk of being turned away from the gates, as the venue has limited space. Therefore, patrons are advised to please purchase tickets well in advance. Breakwaters Angling Club is reputed for hosting well-organised, prestigious competitions and this promises to be yet another bumper competition.
