Forbes Coal held their interdepartmental cricket finals at the Oval sports grounds on Saturday. 
On a cold morning, Coalfields (the underdogs) played against Magdalena Underground.

Coalfields scored 124/3 against Magdalena Underground’s 99/10, taking Coalfields to the final. Magdalena Surface played against Aviemore Mine, with the score for Magdalena Surface 101/7, and Aviemore Mine 103/1, making it an underdog final. 

The final was indeed nail-biting, with Coalfields scoring 112/3 and Aviemore Mine 109/2, leaving Coalfields the winners of the series. 
Series winners were as follows: Alex van Staden – Best Batsman; Danie Coetzer – Best Fielder; Japie Oberholzer – Best Bowler. The day’s winners were as follows: Best Batsman – Eugene Corbitt; Best Fielder – Mondli Mbhele; Best Bowler – Veshal Singh.
