Sid takes bowling first ‘Price’
Despite an early mustering by Andy Crosbie, Sid Price won the Club Singles crown for a record 10th time.

The finals of the 2014 Club Singles Championships were played over the course of the weekend.
It was an interesting tussle between Sid Price and Andy Crosbie, as Sid had won the title nine times previously.
Conversely, Andy was on the comeback after major back surgery and had many District singles titles under his belt, although the Club Championship crown had proved to be elusive to him.
He did extremely well to qualify for the finals after his operation.
Sid started off well, scoring three shots in the first two ends and maintaining the early initiative, although Andy managed to reply with an early single.
Thus, Sid won comfortably to annex the title for a record 10th time.
Playing in the South African Mixed Pairs Championships in Bethlehem last week, KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls representatives, John Douthwaite and Noela Dreyer struggled to find the form which got them to the play-off stages.
After a slow start, they were never in contention for the finals.
The tournament was eventually won by Hennie Slabbert, a former Ncandu Bowling Club member and his partner, Dalena Muller, both representing Eastern Province.
Runners-up were Franco Regnani and Cathy Dryburgh (JBA).
The bronze medal places went to the teams of both Essie de Lange and Rickus Heyster of Sables, and Francois Koen and Loraine Victor from Gauteng North.
Billy Nicholas and Edith Pretorius won Monday’s tabs in competition, while Joan Schoon and Anil Durgadin took second place.
