Vryheid Cricket Club – Mr X openers annihilate Wasps
In batting, openers Jean Botha and Matthew Stride sailed past the score in the 16th over with their wickets still intact, scoring not outs of 51 and 42 respectively.
THE last two pool games of the local Twenty/20 league were played last weekend.
On Saturday, Mr X played Wicket Wasps at Cecil Emmett. Wicket Wasps batted first and disciplined bowling from Mr X restricted them to 105/10 in the 20th over. Notable scores came from Tiaan Naudè (28) and Andrew Brooks (25). Best bowlers for Mr X were Gavin Bosman (4-1-26-3) and Clifford Dougherty (2-0-10-2).

On Sunday, Gladiators traveled to Paulpietersburg to play Dumbe. Dumbe batted first and scored 143/4 in the 20 overs with Anton Beneke (46 not out) and Carlo Hambrock (38) top scoring. Wicket takers for Gladiators were Joshua Stride (4-2-8-2) and Wikus Janse van Rensburg (4-0-23-1). Gladiators struggled against good bowling from Dumbe and were dismissed for 84 in the 20th over. Andrew Vorster (26) and Wikus Janse van Rensburg (12) were top run scorers for the Gladiators while Leon Solms (3-0-7-3) and Juan Freyer (3-0-5-2) were Dumbe’s best bowlers. Dumbe won by 59 runs. At time of going to press the Twenty/20 finals fixtures were not available.
