Northern Regional Championships to take place soon

This will undoubtedly be the biggest regional race championship meeting the town has ever witnessed, and about 100 competitors will attend.

The Newcastle Raceway will host the first leg of the Midas Northern Regional Championships on June 4, at the Newcastle Oval Track.

This qualifier determines the points for the Nationals later this year.

A total of five clubs will participate in the Northern Regional Championships:
– Rustenburg
– Randfontein
– Loskop
– Volksrust
– Newcastle (Host Club).

The following racing classes will thunder around the track:
– Stock Cars
– 1660
– 2 Litre
– Hotrods
– Heavy Metal Motors
– V8-Flexi Motors
– V8-Lexus Motors

This will undoubtedly be the biggest regional race championship meeting the town has ever witnessed, and about 100 competitors will attend.

The event falls under the World of Motorsport South Africa (WOMZA) flag, and as such, their officials will be monitoring and scrutinising the success of the regional championships in our town; allowing Newcastle to bid for the Nationals in 2017.

Gates will open at 9am for spectators and racing will commence at 4pm.

Raceway appeals to corporate companies and individual sponsors to assist and support them in making the event a resounding success.

“We are passionate about a race track without corners, the roar of engines, four wheel drifting, spinning, adrenaline pumping, bumper to bumper action and finally the checkered flag that falls,” said Paul Korb, marketing manager of Newcastle Raceway.

Paul thanked Midas South Africa, and in particular the Newcastle Midas store for its loyal, title sponsorship.

“This investment into the raceway will go a long way in making the championships a resounding success.”
