Dundee to host Ladies-Inter Region golf tournament

The Dundee Country Club was certainly the place to be for golfers over the past weekend with almost 150 rounds of golf being played from Friday afternoon through to Sunday.

There were 24 players who took part in Friday afternoon’s Cross Country Challenge, sponsored by Deb’s Embroidery.
Coming out tops with 26 individual points was Blessing Chiwaya, followed in second place by Wessel Odendaal on 22 points.
Jurie Engelbrecht managed to count out Joe Kumalo on 20 points for them to finish in third and fourth respectively.
Saturday’s competition, a 4 BBBS with a scramble drive, saw almost 90 players enter for the Northern Natal Ladies Hockey fund raising golf day.
Winning the day on 52 points was the pairing of Chris and Andy van der Aart. Brett Mayer and his partner, Veronica Donaldson, were able to count out J Khumalo and H Hlongwane, both pairings scored 51 points, to finish in second place with the latter coming in third.
The novelty prize for nearest the pin on hole no. 4 was won by Gene Robson with Ronel Purchase winning the prize on hole no. 16. Jurie Engelbrecht took the honours for the men’s longest drive on hole no. 15 and Martineque Vlok won the ladies longest drive on hole no. 10.
The club will again be a hive of activity for golfers this coming weekend as Dundee hosts the Ladies Inter-Region Golf Tournament which sees seventy ladies taking part in this two-day event. In lieu of the above tournament. There will no club competitions to accommodate the ladies.
