Striders complete Comrades Marathon

This year, Emnambithi Striders had three novice runners - Salesh, Shaeem and Nabila - who finished the race

It was smiles all round for the proud Emnambithi Striders runners who once again completed the world’s greatest ultra-marathon. A team of 22 participants started the race and 15 were thrilled to complete the gruelling down-run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban.

Chaman Ramphal says they describe the route as a “down run”, but in actual fact the first 55km is uphill and the last 35km is downhill. He says he enjoyed the run and finished comfortably.

Chaman is proud to have finished his 15th Comrades Marathon.

This year, Emnambithi Striders had three novice runners – Salesh, Shaeem and Nabila – who finished the race.

The race was once again well organised, with the table excellently manned.

The crowd support on the way was phenomenal.

The club wishes to acknowledge the support of local people along the route, as this lifted the runners’ spirits.
