NFWAA season comes to an end

Both teams were eager to finish the season on a high note.

NEWCASTLE – The Natal Fresh Water Angling Association (NFWAA) recently held it last fixture, the knockout final, which took place between Itec Free Spool and Glencoe Angling Club at Chelmsford Dam.

Both teams were eager to finish the season on a high note. For Glencoe Angling Club it would mean its first title win, while for Itec Free Spool it would mean its maiden double, as it secured the league title during round five of the season.

As the anglers cast off at Richgate Park, Itec Free Spool proved to be the dominant team as it secured the win for the day with a score of 31 points, knocking Glencoe, with its score of 11 points, out of the tournament.

Docrats secured second place in the knockout finals, while Chelmsford Angling Club secured third place.

The heaviest scaled fish of the season was a carp of 4.190 kg caught by Ronnie Rampersadh, during league six which was held at Sandford Islands. The heaviest barbel for the season weighed in at 3.925kg and was caught at Richgate Park by Neil Boltman.

NFWAA congratulates Docrats Angling Club on hosting a very successful open competition.

Anglers can look forward to NFWAA and its affiliates in hosting at least two more such competitions in the new season.

NFWAA will be holding its annual general meeting on July 16 at 52 Montague Street.
