The September first prize winners were Joan Schoon, Gert Roos and Japie Dantuma (10 + 13), followed by the chicken winners, Billy Nicholas, Mike Martens, Jan Winterbach and Alex Zaal (9 + 4).

Last weekend saw the completion of the Club Drawn Trips competition.

The men’s winners were Stephen Shaw, Colin Broderick and Graham Robinson, with Ernie Phillips, Marius Bouwer (senior) and Aspen Shaw the runners-up.

The ladies’ title was won by Joan Schoon, Marie Botha and Esther Willemse, with Alice Howe, Elena Roux and Leonie Cilliers in second place.

The National Pro 10 pairs competition was hosted by Western Province Cricket Club in Cape Town last weekend.

This highly contested competition sees the winner and runner-up of each of the 20 South African bowling districts getting together in an all-expenses-paid weekend, to determine the national winners.

Newcastle’s Sid Price and Lou Roux, and Richards Bay’s Barry Mutlow and Ronel Greeff, represented KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowling.

Barry and Ronel just missed out on winning their section, after winning seven of their eight games, while Sid and Lou narrowly lost a couple of games, to keep them out of the running.

Both teams enjoyed the experience and encouraged bowlers to enter next year’s competition.
