Ebrahim Mia of Challengers was Angler of the Day, as he accumulated 48 points, winning both the orange and green caps as the overall leader in the APL. This is the most points an angler has scored in a single outing in the APL.
However, there were other anglers who bagged good catches on the day. Albert van Niekerk of Breakwaters Angling Club clinched 40 points, Anil Boodhoo of Stillwaters took 37 points and Janie Els
of Breakwaters stood on 34 points.
The top three anglers of the APL to date are Ebrahim Mia standing on 65 points, followed by Fanie Els standing on 47 points, followed by Anil Boodhoo on 45 points.
Breakwaters leads the VME League with 36 points, followed by Stillwaters on 28 points, Ladysmith with 24 points, Challengers on 23 points and Dannhauser with seven points.
The achievement of Stillwaters is commendable as many of the club’s anglers are fishing for the first time in a competition.
The season has been exciting thus far, as the outcome of each competition is difficult to predict, making for an interesting season going forward into the new year.
Anglers will take a break from competitive angling during the festive season, with the next APL fixture being the VME League 5 at Sandford on February 19, 2017.
