Oval track racers chase up dust
As fans arrived in their numbers, a cacophony of whistling turbos, throaty engines and squealing tyres accompanied the smell of fuel and clouds of dust.
OVAL TRACK – Bright floodlights set the scene at the Newcastle Oval Raceway on Saturday.

For racers, it was another stage to showcase their skills.
In the speedy Go-karts division, Leonie van Rooyen finished in first, fending off Raeesa Cassim and Shakeela Ameer to the chequered flag.
Isone Bester was the fastest of the female racers on the night.
Competing against racers much older, nine-year-old Stephan van der Merwe ended second in the same division, ahead of Zaakira Khan.
The 1600 division saw Dhula Jamaloodeen race to the line.
Ali Jamalodeen finished second in the division, earning the silver position after holding Eugene Coetzer to third.
